You know what they say, when it rains it pours. One in the hand is worth two in the bush. Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get. So how do these words of wisdom relate to the hash last night, well not at all, but that's not really the point is it. Well maybe it should be, but we've gone too far now to turn back. Where we're going we don't need roads.
Manayunk, oh you hilly bastard you. And the scorching heat, oh what a fiery vixen you are. Put these two together and you have everything you need to know about last night's trail, but for the sake of all my long-winded compatriots, I'll continue to entertain you.
It's gon rain. Thanks, Ollie. It rained a little, but that wasn't going to stop our tried and true hares (B*tch $hots, J. Brittany and 60K9) from giving us a true Manayunk-esque trail. Up and down, where we go, where we end up, nobody knows, certainly least of all the hares. On more than one occasion the pack found itself somewhat lost in the hills and it fell to the hares, who by this time were essentially leading/shadowing the pack to mysteriously find some "unseen" mark of flour and prevent the pack from going astray. All's well that ends well as my mother used to say.
Oh and I can't fail to mention the biggest star of the evening, the shots. Oh the shots. So many shots. Allergy inducing hazelnut shots, pure liquor fireball/motor oil shots, something else that I can hardly remember in a parking lot down by the river (unfortunately not in a van).
After miles of hills and three shot checks (maybe a Hamms or two for the road) the pack finally got back to the third floor of McGillicuddy's for a rousing circle and epic dance party. And they danced, and they cried, and they had a really, really, really good time.
And we all can't forget perhaps one of the nicest and most sincere toasts to/roasts of our long-time friend and fellow hasher, Flounder, who celebrated his 15th year hashing last night. Some very nice words were said by hashers old and new in tribute to the man that is the one and only Flounder.
All and all another great hash with ehh people. I kid, I kid. Everything is awesome, everything is cool when you're part of a team. Everything is awesomeee!
